Cohesive Communities
Cohesive Communities explores communities holistically from a meaningful connection perspective. Consultivation facilitates events bringing together relevant community stakeholders such as people of business, health professionals, consumers, community members, peak bodies and government.
Our Cohesive Communities logo incorporates Aboriginal sand art depicting welcoming, yarning circles. At Consultivation, we believe and promote that through open and honest conversation we learn and move forward together. So join us today in yarn, for a chat and let us learn together.
Programs, events and workshops
Act to Connect
Act to Connect is an award winning program connecting isolated individuals to people, places and events meaningful to them within their community.
The concepts are shared and explored with social connectors in a workshop presented in a psycho-educational framework and underpinned by the Wellness Philosophy. Each workshop is interactive and experiential with learning drawn from personal reflection, peer to peer and facilitator engagement. Useful resources also provided to participants to help with learning during the workshop and to embed successful practice afterwards.

Projects
Co-facilitating WA Statewide Suicide Prevention Network, Autumn Forum 2019
The WA Statewide Suicide Prevention Network (WASSPN) has been established to support a more connected suicide prevention community for Western Australia. The network connects individuals, groups and organisations to build relationships, share practices and research. Members, now in excess of 200 people, use the network to share placed based knowledge and experience related to research, news, training, prevention, intervention and postvention.
Two forums are held each year in Autumn and Spring with a topic chosen by the WASSPN's membership. The 2019 Autumn Forum to be held Tuesday 12 March is on Suicide Prevention in WA's Aboriginal Communities. The aim of this forum is to generate practical solutions to suicide prevention that members can take away and implement. Consultivation is honoured that our Director, Jacqui Tibbits, was invited to help plan the event with Aunty Liz Hayden, the WASSPN's Governance Group and Lifeline WA. Jacqui also be co-facilitated the session with Aunty Liz. Held on 12 March 2019 in the Djeran season of adulthood, the Forum was attended by approximately 80 people from around Western Australia inlcuding Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people; community members, Aboriginal-lead organisations and other service providers. Bevan Winmar, Bevan Jnr and Nevaeh opened the forum during Welcome to Country which was conducted by Aunty Liz, with a response by Jacqui Tibbits. Presentations were made by Wayne Ryder and Aunty Josie Ford on their Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing Festival; and Hayley Thompson of the Aboriginal Health Council of WA. We came believing that every person in the room and around the state has a role to play and that each of us can make a positive difference reducing deaths by suicide; and supporting health, healing and wellbeing of self and others. The forum focused on the voice of the community and their needs, ideas and initiatives to help individuals and organisations make a difference. We explored and empowered attendees through three main discussion areas of: 1. needs of the community 2. voices of the community (what do you see needs to happen) and 3. how do providers hold the community At the end of the day, the final discussion was a call to action having participants answer a question 'I will make a change by doing.....' where attendees indicated what they would do as a result of attending the forum. Six main areas of need that we identified included: * unity * healing * leadership * capacity building * empowerment * collaboration There was a great energy and urgency in the room. We hope the momentum which continues to build sees action to help with the health, healing and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Indigenous Australians. A copy of the forum's report is available below. Resources industry mental health & wellbeing - a proactive initiative
Consultivation is proud to be involved with Lifeline WA and the Chamber of Minerals and Energy (CME) who are working with industry and other stakeholders on a proactive approach to better support mental health and wellbeing of people in the resources sector.
Design thinking processes have been incorporated into a codesign methodology to support Lifeline WA, CME and industry to generate ideas and initiatives together. The first forum held on 18 February 2019 with Lifeline WA, CME, their members, Beyond Blue and Mates in Mining was an interactive, discussion-lead session helping to prioritise what the CME-Lifeline WA partnership will focus on, generating interest and ideas in how to better support workers and families. Regional forums are being held in May in Kalgoorlie and Bunbury. Future work will be shared in due course. Dementia Friendly Manjimup: Multigenerational Project
Consultivation is fortunate to be the project coordinator for Manjimup Community Home Care's (MCHC) multigenerational dementia friendly project. MCHC, being part of the Shire of Manjimup, is active in creating a dementia friendly and inclusive town.
This project sees MCHC, Manjimup Senior High School, Kearnan College, Alzheimer's WA, Consultivation and people living with dementia and their carers coming together to create opportunities for school aged children to learn about dementia and to participate in skills swap activities.
Consultivation has implemented an asset based community development perspective to co-design for this project which has resulted in some exciting and innovative opportunities. The results and outcomes of which we will share in due course.

Habitat for Humanity
Our Director, Jacqui Tibbits, is volunteering overseas to build homes for families in need with Habitat for Humanity Australia. As well as building homes, volunteers work in partnership with families contributing to long term sustainable communities.
Jacqui believes safe, livable and viable communities are important to our feelings and needs of security, safety and belonging so she is taking herself out of her safe and secure surroundings to help others build theirs. Away from her home, her family, her daily work routines to a situation of uncertainty, vulnerability and chance. Jacqui said, "I believe in and love building capacity in people, places and organisations. I love travelling to Asia and am very much looking forward to helping the families and communities of Cambodia during the Red Lantern project in April 2019." A portion of revenue earned during 2018/19 by Consultivation is being donated to this cause. If you would like to support Jacqui build a home in Cambodia and help others less fortunate please donate here. Donations of $2 are tax deductible as Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, charitable organisation. Celebratory group picture supplied by Habitat for Humanity.
